It’s About the Little Things

Homesteading is all about taking on a self-sufficient, often rural lifestyle–finding joy in the process of growing and producing your own food, crafting goods, and creating your own energy and fuel. It’s an incredibly rewarding way of life that can truly bring you closer to nature.

However, it’s easy to become overwhelmed when embarking on a homesteading lifestyle. The amount of knowledge and skill required can be intimidating, but it’s important to take the time to appreciate the little things that make homesteading worth while. From seeing fresh eggs for breakfast every morning to watching sunflowers turn their faces toward the sun—these small moments should be celebrated!

It’s easy to get caught up in the grind of daily tasks that come with running a homestead, such as animal care, gardening, and preserving food. However, we must continually remind ourselves to look for those small moments in between—the successes that come from putting in hard work over time. It could be discovering a productive new garden bed or finding out that your chickens lay larger eggs than expected—allowing yourself to soak up these moments will help keep you motivated throughout the homesteading journey.

The beauty of homesteading is that it allows us to slow down and appreciate life at its most basic level. In order to do this effectively, we need be conscious of allowing ourselves moments of joy throughout our day-to-day tasks. Whether it’s watching a hummingbird sip nectar from a flower or harvesting vegetables from your garden bed —take pleasure in these little things because they will ultimately make all the hard work worth while!
